PPGs are a positive way to improve the experiences patients have when visiting their doctor or nurse. Often we see things we wish we could “fix” or get to work better, and this feedback can really help practices improve their services and “get it right” for their patients
If your practice does not yet have a PPG any patient can start one! Talk to your practice manager or your doctor.
PPG members from other surgeries are delighted to assist practices set up or strengthen their PPGs.
Wherever PPGs function, they all have one thing in common – the ambition to deliver a better patient experience within each surgery.
An example of how the CCG has worked with a PPG is when a procurement process took place for a primary care practice. The Chair of the local Patient Participation Group was invited to help develop the procurement selection criteria and be part of the selection panel, along with with HealthWatch.
